With LASCO we can look at the solar corona near to the Sun's surface. We can also see the faint corona far from the Sun's surface, much further out in fact than we can see from Earth during a total eclipse of the Sun.
The white circle in the middle of these three pictures marks the position of the Sun and shows its size. Why does the background change from green to orange to blue? The background is actually black, but we just like to make life more colourful.
LASCO also sometimes gets a good view of the stars and planets.

UFO investigators say that SOHO has captured hundreds of images of UFOs as they move along a kind of alien superhighway. TRUE or FALSE? These UFOs are nothing more than planets seen as they move through the SOHO images. They sometimes appear strange because they are so bright they overload the detectors.
