As well as teaching mathematics he also has a keen interest in learning & teaching about space, space exploration and astronomy. Suitable for KS4 and more able KS3 pupils. This activity can encompass many areas of maths: relationships between numbers, proportion, a short investigative piece of work, squaring and cubing numbers etc. This project is based on material in the Earth and Beyond section of Sun|trek.

Earth Ellipse

 


Suitable for KS4 and more able KS3 pupils. The aim is to use knowledge of proportion to find the closest and farthest distances of the Earth from the Sun. This project uses real data from the SoHO spacecraft. This project is based on material in the Earth and Beyond and Magnetic Sun sections of Sun|trek.

Orbiting the Sun
